Kickstarterer skatebird4/18/2023 “Even with stretch goals, which could push launch more into summer, I want to stay tight and small,” she said. Keeping the game small had always been part of the strategy. $20k really was/is enough to finish the game as I wanted, as a result.” The luxurious barn offices Megan Fox It’s also just me doing most of the work - Alex does the birb, Nathan the music, Anthony Alfonso is creating the sticker art, etc, but outside of those razor sharp bits of asset work, it’s me doing the rest. “My burn rate is stupid low compared to anyone who lives in a city. “I live in a small town west, over the water, of Seattle, and work out of the second floor of a barn,” Fox stated. The Kickstarter had a $20,000 goal, which Fox says will be enough to finish the game, although stretch goals may increase the scope slightly. Not that Skatebird was ever meant to compete with the big names in skating games, especially with a concept that focuses on the absurdity of cute birds skating. It helps that Skatebird is literally the only skateboarding game discussed at E3 both Skate 4 and Session were no shows. PLZ RT! Share with your birb friends! BIRB NEEDS YOOUUUU /ZAifEoClm2- Megan Fox June 11, 2019 Give it a look, and help a little bird do its best.SkateBIRD is a game about birbs who try their best, and we need YOUR help to teach them to skate real good. SkateBIRD is up on Kickstarter effective immediately, with a link to the alpha at the top of the campaign page. There’s a path out of the dull day-to-day grind the bird’s human found himself in, and SkateBIRD is just as much about tearing it up in a cute little park as it is how the little things friends do for each other can have big effects. In the meantime, more play in the skateparks means more birds come to visit, maybe even hosting events. As mentioned in the Kickstarter, a level in an office would be because the bird’s human got a promotion thanks to the morale boost, while the bedroom skatepark could have other clues that life is picking up. Each level is planned to have environmental storytelling in it, for the player to pay attention to or ignore as they see fit. For the sake of the alpha these are just point-runs but the full game will have collectathons and other mini-quests, such as knocking over a book to create a path to a new section of the level. The alpha is a single skatepark to explore, with three birds hanging out with requests. It’s early, buggy, and not representative of the final product, but charming beyond all belief and its single tune puts the alpha into Soundtrack of the Year territory. SkateBIRD was revealed a few months back and made an appearance at PAX East, but now an updated alpha is available to everyone as part of today’s Kickstarter launch. The Big Friend is going to be happy because his little birb is trying to make him happy, and that’s the important bit. SkateBIRD is both a nicely in-depth skateboarding game as well as completely adorable, and while you can pursue the hardcore score challenge the game is all about simply trying your best. A series of pencils balanced on large erasers makes a perfect grinding rail, duct-taped carboard works nicely for creating ramps and half-pipes, and cleverly arranged furniture provides the park’s terrain. Small bird loves its Big Friend and only wants him to be happier, so the solution, of course, is to hop on a tiny little fingerboard and zip through a park made of household items. A small bird lives with its person who hasn’t touched his skateboard in just about forever, and his world seems to be getting a bit more grey with each passing month. Other times, though, what’s lost is something that made one’s life richer or more interesting. Sometimes this is a good thing, as in the case of parachute pants or, nowhere near soon enough, Twenty One Pilots. Time moves on and things that were once incredibly important fade into the past.
