Reset mozypro client4/15/2023 I'll be happy to help out with any questions etc. I have been running it at home for a few years and work for about 1.5 years. Then if you do start from scratch with a new email addy, and call the company to negotiate a better price or figure it out here at the Spiceworks Backup Buyers Club! I recommend doing a trial account with an email address you dont normally use. It is written into stone in company policy and blessed by upper management. Laptops that travel a lot in and out of wireless sometimes need a reminder that the emplyee has a responsibility to get online while on the clock once a week to backup up and protect company data. Desktop machines always get backed up on time. I don't think I could have streamed it much faster with Veritas.įor the most part mozy offers a set and forget backup service. The slow part was getting over the users ATT wireless card. Later, mozy emails you to tell you the restore job is ready to download. You have to start a job on the server to restore files. One restore job resulted in complaints that Mozy is too slow. You can't remove one and get the license key back. With that lesson, you I figured out that if you have a user with 2 computers and two backups, to write support to have them remove the #2 machine if you want to keep 1 of the 2. I was able to remote in to the machines and reset the hklm\sofware\mozypro\state\configured 1 to a 0 and reset each client but it took a few hours. It ends up that was my username under the oddly stuck one and all 8 of the machines I had backed up under my email went byebye. I hit refresh a few times and tried to delete it again. One day I was in the interface, deleted a user, the interface refreshed and it was still there. I learned the hard way not to add clients using my email address. You can make each user an admin then strip privledges away, but I don't ahve time for that. You can only have an Admin user get those emails. They gave us plenty of data and Mozy was there to help us prove the person was hostile.Ī feature request I asked for is to have Mozy automagically email a user if they are behind for a few days on backing up. It was nice to be able to order dvds from mozy with the contents of the machine from that day, a month and 2 months prior to sit unopened and wait to see if the employee came after us. I had a hostile termination happen, and the user was wiping files. I can also grab them through the web interface. They can dig through there and find older versions of files. On the client side the users have an extra drive in my computer called MozyPro Remote backup. So I specify things like back up 5 times a day, wait till the machine has been idle for 5 minutes, don't let the users change X settings. I know the data is safe in their massive datacenter. It shows me all the client machines, the last backup, quota assigned etc. I have mozy policy centralized on the website. In cases of files being lost or offsite users, mozy has been great along with a ghost image to start off a rebuild. Now I love Mozy.įor my small business my restore plan for clients is to give them a new laptop, and have their profile synced up from a file server when they log in. I have experience starting with Arcserve 6 up to Brightstor 2000, then I used veritas and retrospect until about 2 years ago to do everything from sql clusters to exchange to hundreds of clients. Hi all, I'd like to talk about a few lessons from Mozy and a general overview of features.
